Sito expands to Norway

The acquisition of Norwegian consulting company Asenso As is in alignment with Sito’s growth strategy while providing Sito’s current employees with great opportunities in interesting Norwegian projects.

Sito have acquired a majority share of Asenso As, a Norwegian consulting company specialized in project management, commissioning of plans and construction management in the infrastructure, industrial and housing sectors. The consultancy’s founders, Knut Berntzen and Roar Ødegård, will remain with the company as partners and leading experts.

Operating largely in the Oslo economic zone since 2002, Asenso’s most notable clients in recent years have included the Norwegian Rail Administration, the City of Oslo and its metro and tram authorities, and property developers and contractors.

In the future, Asenso will focus on expanding its existing project and construction management business while seeking new opportunities in infrastructure planning, aiming to achieve a strong market position in road and rail planning and consultancy with the backing of Sito’s expertise.

The new Managing Director from 1 March 2016 onwards will be Sigurdur Thor Gardarsson who will bring to the company significant experience in project management in rail transport planning.

Great opportunities for Sito and its employees

– For two of years now we have been actively seeking openings to establish operations in Norway especially,” said Sito Oy’s Deputy Managing Director Kimmo Anttalainen. “Norway’s infrastructure investments are manifold compared those of Finland and represent a sizable opportunity for us to expand our operations.”

Kimmo Anttalainen pointed out that Sito’s current employees will have interesting openings available to them in Norwegian projects. Since Norway’s planning and building culture is very similar to that in Finland, it will be easy for them to get their feet under the table. However, the hugely different conditions in some fields, such as in infrastructure construction, will provide Sito’s employees with plenty of new challenges and learning opportunities.

Asenso As currently employs some 20 specialists. “This expansion will definitely create demand for new specialists, particularly in the infrastructure sector,” said Kimmo Anttalainen.

“Our services and client accounts will be developed in close cooperation with Sito’s employees in Norway. We can learn from our Norwegian colleagues, and are creating exciting opportunities for a range of partnerships,” said Business Area Director Markus Väyrynen.

“Sito’s vision is to become a renowned and valued expert in our sector in Norway within two to three years,” said Managing Director Tapio Puurunen.
