Kimmo Fischer granted European engineering and consultancy companies’ lifetime achievement award

Kimmo Fischer, Chairman of the Board of Sito Oy, has been granted a lifetime achievement award for his outstanding 40-year career in the engineering and consultancy sector.

The award was handed out at the European CEO Awards event in London on Thursday, 12 November 2015.

The award was presented by Flemming Pedersen, president of the European Federation of Engineering Consultancy Associations (EFCA) and chair of the judging panel, and Nelson Ogunshakin, Chief Executive of the UK-based Association for Consultancy & Engineering.

Kimmo Fischer has had an extensive international and domestic career in the infrastructure engineering and consulting sector in Europe, Asia, the Middle East and Africa. He has, for example, worked for Georeda in Saudi Arabia and Finn-Stroi in Russia, before becoming a Sito shareholder and the head of its geotechnical department in 1986. Kimmo also played an important role in the founding and running of the traffic sector export company Finnroad.

Kimmo Fischer was appointed the Managing Director of Sito Oy in 2004 and the Chairman of its Board in 2013. Since then, Sito has become five times as large and grown into today’s Finnish leader in providing comprehensive infrastructure, traffic, logistics, land use, environment and digital services.

Kimmo Fischer has actively participated in the activities of the Finnish Association of Consulting Firms SKOL ry for 20 years, even serving as its Chairman in 2012–2014. He is a member of several company boards, has been a board member of the Federation of Finnish Technology Industries, and continues to serve on its nomination committee.
