Road and foundation engineering
Sito was responsible for the engineering of the harbour's foundation structures. In addition, Sito was prepared the technical documentation for lifting sand/gravel from the sea bottom for redamming works. Other tasks included the environmental planning of the gate area and rock engineering for the Ruusuniemi canal. A significant part of the work involved technically demanding expert supervision of the foundation work of the quays.
On the Vuoli-project, Sito was involved in the general planning, road design and construction planning of the harbor road and the general planning and construction planning of the harbor railroad. Both the road and the railroad were contructed in very demanding environmental and subsurface conditions.
A Comprehensive Information System
For the Vuoli-project, Sito developed a massive environment information system solution incorporating groundwater, settlement and vibration data and a feedback system. The information accessed via an internet portal.
