Get acquainted with the plan for Järvenpää center through a virtual model
Sito has been extensively involved in the development of Järvenpää's city center. For the purpose of presenting the Perhelä block, Sito pre-pared a virtual model.
There are plans for the Perhelä district in Järvenpää to become an attractive landmark in commerce and housing. This will further reinforce Järvenpää's status as the commercial and administrative center of the mid-Uusimaa region. Consultation and hearings are underway on the preparatory phase of the local detailed plan for the Perhelä district.
In 2010–2011, SITO evaluated the impacts the project would have on traffic, as well as the infrastructure construction sites related to the project, particularly Helsingintie street. Converting the traffic light intersections at Mannilantie, Yhteiskouluntie and Rantakatu into a roundabout proved the best model for developing Helsingintie. Helsingintie was designed into a central street with a median strip.
New construction of the Perhelä block, with a parking facility for 600 cars, would mean daily traffic volumes of approximately 6,400–6,600 vehicles in the area. According to a study conducted by Sito on the functioning of traffic, the roundabouts would have sufficient capacity for the related traffic volumes. There is a connection to the shopping center's parking facility from the roundabout. The street plan for Helsingintie will be completed by the fall of 2012. From the point of view of the townscape, the new plan is a good solution for calming traffic.
In addition to the virtual model, Sito has prepared the general and street plans for Helsingintie, as well as a traffic model and traffic prognosis for Järvenpää town center.
